Chainsaw Operations & Maintenance Training

 
Because working in the forest is dangerous!
​
HFM travels to your home or job site, and provides candidates with executive hands-on experience.  Employing current technology, tools, and advanced techniques, we customize training that fits your needs.  Not comfortable with us training at your location?  No problem.  You can train at our site too.

We offers 3 levels of Chainsaw Safety Training based on your experience and/ or skill level.  We're gender neutral and have been professionally training candidates for over 25 years.  Our instructors hold the upmost stringent ratings, regarding Federal and private qualifications to date.

Note: Each person must come to class prepared to cut wood.  This means wearing proper PPE, including chainsaw chaps/pants, hard hat with visor and/or safety glasses, gloves, protective leather boots (cut resistant highly recommended), hearing protection, a chainsaw saw in proper working order and fuel/bar oil for the chainsaw.
 
Basic Level Training - Intended for candidates that have little to no chainsaw experience.

  • Hinge and back-cut assessment w/wedge fundamentals (smaller diameter trees)

Intermediate Level Training - Intended for candidates that have successfully completed Basic Level Training, or exhibit the fundamentals of solid Basic Level Training.
 

  • Refresher on body mechanics and proper body positioning

  • Refresher on PPE

  • Chainsaw safety feature overview

  • Hands-on chainsaw sharpening in the field

  • Proficient use of wedges

  • Proper tree felling evaluations

  • Spring pole demonstration and proper spring pole cutting techniques

  • Proficient use of the bore cut

  • More field time demonstrations


Advanced Level Training - Intended for candidates that have successfully completed Basic and Intermediate Level Training.
 

  • Precision felling
